Meridian is an independent project about how to read data on the planet. We do not chase the sensational: our unit of measure is a pattern the reader actually understood.
Clarity over spectacle
A chart exists to explain, not to impress. If beauty requires lying with an axis, we choose the axis.
Method over conclusion
We show how a result was obtained. Reproducibility and open formats are not an appendix but the point.
Context over the number
A single figure without a baseline, a period and uncertainty is useless. We always show relative to what.
How we work
Every piece starts with a question, not a conclusion. We take a domain of observation, find an indicator that answers the question more honestly than an average, and build a dashboard and an explainer around it.
The data on the site is synthetic and serves as a demonstration of methods — the methodology says so plainly. This removes any dependence on third-party licenses and gives full control over the properties of the series.
The project is bilingual on principle: if a piece is worth publishing, it is worth being understood beyond a single language.
